Sue lives in a rambling Victorian house, a four-minute walk from the bracing North Sea. From there, she writes, entertains and runs

Writing took precedence when her three children flew the nest and a more flexible work-life balance emerged. Work had invariably centred on research and the history of the locality and thus followed works on TE Lawrence, the fallen WW1 soldiers of Hornsea, and Wilfred Owen’s final year of life in Scarborough. Writing fiction began with many short stories, two of which have been published in anthologies, and one ultimately developing into her first novel, Shadow Child.

Tony Trotman-Beasty – Paris, Picasso & Me

A wonderful novel

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 October 2023

This book is an excellent read. The novel relates the protagonist’s struggle out of tragedy and trauma, to emerge triumphant, with the aid of family, friendship and loyalty. Taylor’s wonderful writing style is so addictive that each chapter leaves the reader desperate for the next.
This is the second of Taylor’s novels which I have read, and I can’t wait for the next one.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
